Mahindra XUV400 EV arrives at dealerships

The company recently announced that it will be offered in two variants – EC and EL with a starting price of Rs 15.99 lakh. The XUV400 EV has now started to arrive at dealerships and interested customers can also take test drives of this newest EV offering from Mahindra.

Recently a video on YouTube was uploaded by Gaurav Car Tech in which the presenter shows the XUV400 sitting at a dealership. He takes a walk around the vehicle and explains all the features and specifications of the new EV SUV. The XUV400 on the exterior is based on the XUV300 and hence takes the body and design from the ICE variant. However, it still manages to maintain an EV distinctiveness with some extensive changes.

Starting from at the front the XUV400 ditches the slat-themed grille in favor of a closed grille with bronze-colored X-themed inlays throughout its width. The headlight housings are identical, with halogen projectors within and daytime-running LEDs on the outer corners of the headlamps. Also, the daytime running LEDs do not extend all the way down to the front bumper, which now has bronze accents surrounding the new fog lights. The front bumper on the XUV400 also takes inspiration from the ‘born-electric’ range of forthcoming EV SUVs from the brand.

Dimensionally the new all-electric electric SUV from Mahindra measures in at 4200mm in length, 1821mm in width, and 1634mm in height. It also gets a wheelbase of 2600mm. The XUV400 also receives squared-off front and rear fenders, as well as new 16-inch machined alloy wheels. From the sides the XUV400 has a slightly larger wheelbase and a broader rear three-quarter design than the XUV300.

The Bronze accents theme continues in the sides of the XUV400. The roof is painted entirely in bronze, while the rearview mirrors are gloss black. Meanwhile at the rear, its gets clear LED taillamps with sharper edges and revised LED inserts. The vehicle all around its body features the new Mahindra Twin Peak logos finished in the same bronze theme.

Inside, the XUV400’s cabin is furnished in an all-black theme, with gloss black surrounds for the center console and bronze surrounds for the side AC vents. The center console arrangement is identical to that of the XUV300, with the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone automated temperature control controls, multi-functional steering wheel, and twin-pod instrument panel.

As mentioned before the company has announced that the all-new electric SUV will be offered in two variants. The first will be the more affordable EC variant which will be powered by a 34.5 kWh battery pack capable of producing 150 PS and 310 Nm of peak torque. has a certified driving range of 375 kilometers, (MIDC). Meanwhile the more expensive EC variant will be powered by a 39.4 kWh battery pack that produces 150 PS and 310 Nm of peak torque. According to the company, this model has a certified driving range of 456 kilometers.

In terms of pricing the XUV400’s cheaper EC model comes with two charging options. The 3.3 kW charger variant costs Rs 15.99 lakh ex-showroom, meanwhile the 7.2 kW variant costs Rs 16.49 lakh ex-showroom. Ex-showroom, the XUV400 EL model costs Rs 18.99 lakh.
